Time for a confession.

Varen Sul

Time for a confession.

After about fifteen years in Cinema 4D, I've started using Blender.

I was never a hater. I'm just old, and change is bad. Really though, it was the interface —
if you're going to spend most of your working life inside a piece of software, it needs to help you, not fight you.

Then I found Bforartists:

Not perfect, but a serious leg up on standard Blender, and enough to get me over the hump.

What I've found since:

The community is genuinely something. There's an addon for everything and most cost less than lunch.

Render speeds on the Mac are properly impressive. Sending it to my PC farm is another thing entirely — quick in a way I wasn't expecting.

The .exr round trip to Nuke drives me up the wall. I'll get over it.

Still dabbling rather than committing. But my nephews and I are making a fan film that's about 70% Blender,
largely because my 12-year-old nephew keeps showing me what to do.

This is Varen Sul, a character we named and built together using scans from https://www.3dscanstore.com

Fifteen years of habit, undone by someone who isn't old enough to have a bank card.
