Kombucha!

A quick glimpse into the process of an ongoing project for Left Field Kombucha — a series of CGI product shots that need to look like photography but behave like CGI.

The brief was to build a flexible system covering Left Field's full range, where labels, artwork, backgrounds and lighting can all be swapped out quickly as new flavours and campaigns roll in. Photography would have meant a fresh shoot every time a flavour launched or a brief shifted. CGI gives us a single setup that adapts — same can, new world, new mood, in a fraction of the time.

Built in Cinema 4D and rendered in Arnold. The challenge was less about making one image look great and more about making the system hold up across every variation. The can geometry, label workflow, materials and lighting rigs all had to be modular enough that a Sicilian Lemon & Mint scene on glossy yellow tile could become Rose & Elderflower on warm parquet without rebuilding from scratch. Surfaces, reflections and shadows needed to feel grounded and physical — the kind of detail that sells the photographic illusion — while staying flexible underneath.

It's an ongoing piece of work, with new flavours and outputs being added as the range grows. More to come.
