A Small Book About Film
Over the past year, I have been writing a book titled A Small Book About Filmmaking. It's now reaching the stage where I need to start pulling everything together, and I wonder whether this is something people would genuinely like to read. This isn’t a traditional tutorial-style book that simply lists step-by-step instructions on how to make films. Instead, it takes a more personal approach, focusing on what inspires me to create moving images, with the hope of encouraging others to reflect on their own filmmaking journey and maybe even validate their ideas.
In the book, I’ll share stories from my experiences on film sets, TV shows, and smaller productions, offering practical suggestions to overcome common challenges. While the focus is clearly on indie filmmaking, the book isn’t a tutorial per se—it touches briefly on aspects of production, post-production, and both good and bad habits to be aware of. Ultimately, this book aims to spark questions and inspire fresh ideas, offering a few helpful hints, tips, and inspirations drawn from my 25 years working in the moving image industry in both software and practical approaches.
Oh, and of course I’ll talk about Star Wars.
